Our team designed the Florida Gulf Recovery Business Locator, an Internet-based Geographic Information Systems application, to help businesses recover from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The application plotted individual businesses by industry title and their number of employees on a map of Gulf coastal states. These states used the tool to assist their businesses with recovery and their workforce with re-employment. In-house provision of infrastructure, software, and access to data needed to create and run the application saved an estimated $85,000.
